The biggest street art festival in SA (and the continent), IPAF, is just around the corner, set to breathe new magic into the City of Cape Town for another year!

Cape Town, South Africa (08 February 2024)—Every year for the past seven, the International Public Arts Festival (IPAF) has brought big art, community and creativity to Cape Town. City spots get upgraded with gorgeous art. Larger-than-life murals turn streets into galleries. And artists get to connect through a special theme that injects new energy into the whole city.

Last year, Africa’s largest street festival highlighted Cape Town as an artistic hot spot. The poignant theme ‘Humanity’ brought new ideas and experiences to the table, creating room to showcase thought-provoking works that ranged from what social disconnection looks like to how we can reconnect again.

It’s almost time for fresh splashes of paint and renewed excitement as IPAF gears up to come back to Cape Town from 14-18 February.

Some of the artists who will be dressing up the City have already been announced, including South African-Portugese visual artist Vanesa Teodoro, Joburg’s mischievous Mars Graffiti, Illustrator and street artist Elléna Lourens, and international names.

The theme for IPAF 2024 is themed CoAct | CoLLab. According to IPAF:

“The possibilities feel endless with this year’s theme…inspiring connection through communal action and creative alliance. The heart of the festival will be an immersive public art experience on the lawns of the Company’s Garden; with public art projects emanating all across Cape Town CBD.”

So, this is your annual reminder save the dates and get ready to fall in love with art that’s free for everyone to be inspired by.
