A 10-year-old’s heartfelt teddy bear gift and note of kindness illuminate hope and inspire unity this festive season.

Johannesburg, South Africa (24 December 2023) – Bianca Loren Engelbrecht recently shared a heartwarming story with Good Things Guy about a 10-year-old whose simple yet profound act of kindness is reverberating throughout the community.

Bianca’s friend’s daughter had recently moved into her mother’s complex and was navigating through turbulent waters. It was against this backdrop that a small, furry surprise landed on her doorstep. Accompanying the unexpected teddy bear was a note that touched the heartstrings of everyone who read it.

“Hello miss,” the note began, bearing the innocent sincerity characteristic of a child’s hand. “You seem like the type of person that would like teddy bears, so I washed it two times and brushed it three times.”

The 10-year-old had seen this stranger’s sadness and taken something of her own, given it some love, and then gifted it to share some kindness.

“She is the beam of sunshine in our world,” Bianca emphasised, capturing the collective sentiment that this young girl’s actions have become a radiant source of inspiration.

“She might not have much but she gives and shares what she does have,” Bianca pointed out, echoing the sentiments of an entire community touched by this act.

“She is 10, so of course the little note would not have the best grammar,” Bianca acknowledged.

Yet, in its innocence and sincerity, this note and the accompanying teddy bear embody a purity of intention that is both beautiful and profoundly moving. What this young girl requires, as Bianca astutely observed, is encouragement—to recognise that her acts, however small they may seem, are indeed beautiful in their own right.

Yes, sometimes the smallest things are actually the biggest and this little teddy, filled with love, has not only spread some kindness to a woman in need but an entire community and now all our Good Things Guy readers too.
