Potjie powers unite! A very special competition in Hogsback is using food as the way to the heart of a community:

Hogsback, South Africa (17 October 2023) — They say that food is the way to the heart, and in the case of the upcoming Hogsback Potjie Fundraiser competition, the sentiment rings especially true!

The heart in question is that of the Hogsback community, and through a little healthy competition and many a mouthwatering potjie plate, a lot of positive change is on the menu.

Every year, Hogsbackers join forces to enter their finest potjie pots to help give back to their community in the tastiest way possible.

Every plate purchased helps fill a new pot of funds for community-focused Jikani (Xhosa for turn around) and is an organisation focused on skills and community development across the impact spectrum.

Some of their work includes maintaining a training centre for IT skills, a library for children and elders in and around the area to enjoy, a charity shop for poor families in the community.

Not to mention, their Love Blankets Project was a huge source of joy for the less fortunate during winter, while their environmental impact ranges from creating eco-bricks (used within the library) and fostering a recycling mindset in the community.

So, anyone hungry to benefit Jikani (and gun for the Potjie Cup) is invited to grab their favourite apron and get cooking!

The event is set to be held on 4 November at the Hogsback Brewing Company Taproom & Beer Garden.
