Two South Africans have shown incredible kindness towards each other, showcasing how wonderful the people of the rainbow nation truly are.

South Africa (27 June 2023) – We have been blessed yet again, to see the beauty of South Africa shine through. We are not even talking about the stunning landscapes but the people. Ask anyone who has travelled or lived overseas, it’s the people they miss most because South Africans just have a way about them; an all-encompassing kindness and generosity of spirit.

Late last week we shared the story of Lisa and Zane Colquhoun who recently returned home to South Africa after living in the United Kingdom for 11 years. The story quickly went viral and reached over 150,000 readers by Sunday.

While the Good Things Guy team was having a well-earned weekend break, the comment section on the Facebook post was growing. By Monday evening, a reader reached out to point out the heartwarming and wholesome kindness that was blooming on the post.

While naturally, there were a few negative comments, the vast majority were kind and welcomed Lisa and Zane home with open arms. Two readers, in particular, stood out to us and their comment thread gave us all the feels!

Madudu Nzimande started the thread of kindness, welcoming Lisa and Zane back. Marilize van Deventer then responded to Madudu and before long, were we watching kindness bloom between the two women.

We got the chance to speak to both women; reaching out, we thanked them for being everything we love about South Africa. How can one not feel absolute love for the rainbow nation and her people when seeing so much love being shared?

Speaking to Madudu, she shared that she was deeply passionate about finding unity after the horrific events of South Africa’s past.

“I am passionate about reconciling our differences advocated by what happened in the past [and] the advocacy for the return, of our compatriots that are abroad and reluctant to come back home due to uncertainties.”

Marilize too is passionate about South Africa and has worked hard to empower and inspire the youth.

“It is a deep love for this country and its people that fuel me to try and do even more.”

Lisa had shared that one of the big reasons they returned to South Africa was to be surrounded by her own people again. And here it was unfolding on the very post about her family. She even shared in her original article, how special South Africans were.

“There is something very special about this country and the people who live here.”

And we absolutely agree!
