North West University Student

A South African student from the North West University in Potchefstroom is going viral after posting a video of him inspiring peace through sharing love.

North West University, South Africa – The University protests, which are in their second year, have turned violent with some students and citizens taking to the streets to express their anger.

But some students and community members are not joining the masses.

Rynaard De Goede is one of those incredible South Africans. The NWU student took to social media to inspire peace and love instead of protesting.

The video has already been shared over 10 000 times and viewed over 300 000 times on Facebook, with people leaving messages of thanks and admiration on the post.

The video starts off with De Goede putting a sign outside one of the lecture halls at North-West University, offering free hugs.

He then puts on a blindfold, and that’s when the magic happens!

“Love does not cause division. Love does not label. Love does not decimate. Love knows no boundaries. Love overcomes all. #JustLove” – Rynaard De Goede

The response has been amazing with people sharing and commenting on the post.

Kevin Owens commented: “Goosebumps bro. Well done. Proud is not even the right word. Keep making a difference!”

Ammies Lambrechts added: “Just simple amazing!! ❤❤”

Arlen De Villiers posted: “Love conquers all!”

Kobus Roux also said: “That’s awesome bra. One love.”

  1. Good intentions but responses from the wrong people. It’s a one way street and always will be. They don’t care!!!!

    1. Did you watch the video!? Well, then you would’ve seen that not only “the wrong people” took the opportunity to grab a hug. Try not to make generalising comments about things you know nothing about.

  2. Social media is a propoganda and self promotion platform. It may be “the right” message that we want to hear but its not representative and it is engineered. No flipping honesty just camera. Would an ugly fat person without a camera get hugs? No.

  3. So creative! Showing us that we can make a difference in our invironment . It’s an inspiration to look for alternative outcomes. There are so many possibilities to be explored .
