We can smell the sweet scents of National Cupcake Day already, but this is not just a day for guilty pleasures. Cupcakes of HOPE is calling on bakers near and far to lend a spoonful of help to children with cancer. Ready, set, bake!

South Africa (19 September 2023) — Making a difference sometimes means baking a difference, and the upcoming National Cupcake Day is South Africa’s excuse to whip out those baking skills and put the most important ingredients (determination, joy and support) to work.

National Cupcake Day falls on 30 September, and Cupcakes of HOPE is ready to turn kitchens across South Africa into transformative, sweet spaces where every single cupcake becomes a love letter of support for a child fighting cancer.

Not sure that a few cupcakes can make a difference? Last year, Cupcakes of HOPE’s community call saw the assignment well understood and raised a whopping R2.1 million for children with cancer.

This kind of support sweetens the bitter financial burden that living with cancer inevitably has on families across South Africa. At the same time, the initiative greatly helps the emotional journey lighten, purely from that sense of knowing that there are apron-wearing angels who are ready to lend a spoonful of help—a priceless effort.

This year, anyone (regardless of their baking finesse or ability) is invited to dust off their aprons and:

A Cupcake to One, a Lifeline to Another

“We believe in the transformative power of a single cupcake. We’re more than an organisation; we’re a community. Behind every cupcake lies a story of courage and resilience. We understand that even in the face of cancer’s darkness, a simple cupcake can radiate love and support. It’s not just about baking; it’s a call to action. We believe in the boundless potential of individuals coming together to change lives.” Cupcakes of Hope Founder, Sandy Cipriano.
