South Africa is rejoicing in Bafana Bafana’s advancement to the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals, fueled by the Springboks’ support, embodying the resilient ethos of “Hulle Weet Nie Wat Ons Weet Nie”.

Johannesburg, South Africa (01 February 2024) – South Africans are beaming with pride as Bafana Bafana secured their spot in the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals following a remarkable 2-0 victory over Morocco late on Tuesday night – a reminder that Hulle weet nie wat ons weet nie!

The nation erupted in celebration, with social media platforms buzzing with messages of support and congratulations for the talented team.

In a heartwarming show of solidarity, the Springboks took to X (Twitter) to extend their warm wishes to Bafana Bafana, tweeting, “Congratulations @BafanaBafana on last night’s great victory at the Africa Cup of Nations and best of luck for the quarter-final on Saturday, we are 100% behind you 🇿🇦 #StrongerTogether”.

This gesture of camaraderie highlights the unity and support among South Africa’s sporting fraternity.

Responding to the Springboks’ message, Bafana Bafana replied with the resonating words of Dricus du Plessis, the trailblazing South African Middleweight champion in the UFC.

Quoting du Plessis’ famous mantra, they exclaimed, “Hulle weet nie wat ons weet nie ! 🇿🇦🙌🏾”, signifying the unwavering determination and resilience that characterises the spirit of South African athletes.

But what exactly does the catchphrase mean?

In Dricus’s words, he emphasises, “It’s a statement more than something to be questioned. It’s a statement that even though [South Africa are] underdogs… we are South African. And people don’t know. That’s what they don’t know. They don’t know what we are willing to do to win, and how far we are willing to go to be the best.”

His sentiments echo the sentiments of many South Africans who face daily challenges with resilience and fortitude, yet remain fiercely dedicated to their country and its people. Despite obstacles and all our challenges, South Africans continue to demonstrate that we are truly “built different”. Our passion, resilience and unwavering commitment to excellence serve as a source of inspiration for generations to come.

Ja!!! Hulle weet nie wat ons weet nie!
