Former President Barack Obama has highlighted South African artist Tyla’s hit song “Water” as one of his favourite tracks of the year, spotlighting her rising global impact in the music industry.

 

Global (01 January 2023) – South African songstress Tyla recently found herself on a prestigious list of “must-listen-to tracks” created by none other than former President Barack Obama.

Another awesome achievement to add to her growing catalogue of accomplishments.

At just 21, the talented South African has done more than just make waves; she’s created a tidal surge in the music industry. Tyla’s single, “Water,” hit the top of multiple charts in 2023, firmly establishing her as a force to be reckoned with. Her unique sound, captivating lyrics, and undeniable talent have been the talk of the town, earning her a coveted spot on the Billboard Hot 100—a milestone for South African artists that hadn’t been achieved in over fifty years.

Obama, known for his eclectic taste and cultural appreciation, didn’t miss the chance to spotlight Tyla’s talent. Taking to social media, he unveiled his annual list of top songs with a caption that read, “Here are some of my favourite songs from this year,” inviting his vast following to recommend more hidden gems.

Amongst tracks from various genres and global sensations, “Water” by Tyla stood tall, resonating with the former president’s discerning musical palate.
