Vintage With Love, a remarkable charity concept, seamlessly blends fashion and philanthropy, raising funds for worthy causes while promoting a ‘sharity’ economy of upcycling and sharing goods.

Johannesburg, South Africa (02 October 2023) – In a world often characterised by fast fashion and fleeting trends, two fashion-forward visionaries, Leigh Ord and Jacquie Myburgh Chemaly, have created a unique concept that’s not just about raising funds but also promoting a “sharity” economy.

This extraordinary initiative is none other than “Vintage With Love” (VWL), a non-profit organisation that beautifully blends fashion and charity into one stylish venture. VWL’s premise is simple yet incredibly impactful: the resale of gently worn clothes.

The team spend the entire year collecting pre-loved clothing, curating a treasure trove of fashion gems, and then host an annual BIG sale where all these items find new homes. Hidden among the racks are hand-made pieces, common brands, and even the occasional couture gem, like a rare Louis Vuitton treasure waiting to be discovered. However, what truly sets VWL apart is its altruistic mission. Every penny raised from these fashion sales goes straight into the coffers of various charities.

Their goal this year? A commendable R1 million!

And because this year also marks the 10th anniversary, they are gearing up for something even bigger and better.

Introducing “Decor for a Difference,” an expansion of their offerings that includes not only gently-worn designer clothing but also a curated collection of pre-loved furniture and home décor. And that’s exactly why partnering with Weylandts, South Africa’s leading furniture and homeware store, totally makes sense.

Weylandts has generously provided the space for VWL’s BIG sale this year, demonstrating a shared commitment to making a positive difference in the community. From the 5th to the 8th of October, fashion enthusiasts and advocates for sustainable living will have the opportunity to shop for high-end, pre-loved clothing, accessories, and home décor at the Weylandts store in Fourways, Johannesburg.

Tickets for this remarkable event can be purchased on Webtickets or through www.vintagewithlove.co.za.

Vintage With Love’s dedication to donating all profits to education and literacy programs across South Africa transforms this sale into a guilt-free shopping experience with a profound purpose. Last year’s sale in Cape Town raised a staggering R1 million for charity, and now it’s Johannesburg’s turn to shine.

Tracey van Gass, the Managing Director of VWL, encapsulates the spirit of the organization by stating, “VWL is a complete feel-good project; every day, we work towards a better South Africa where children have access to education. We’re setting out to make second-hand the first choice, and we couldn’t do it without the unwavering support of generous men and women across SA.”

In 2023, as Vintage With Love celebrates its remarkable 10-year journey, it’s abundantly clear that this initiative is the epitome of a “sharity” economy where style and compassion converge, creating a gift that keeps on giving. Don’t miss the chance to be a part of this heartwarming movement.
